Howdy! I’m writing this on the train home from New York City and I am tired but so, so happy. I had an amazing weekend with two of my best friends in New York City. We’ve been friends for 15 years and although we live hours apart now and only see each other a few times a year, we have the best time when we’re together.
I took the train on Friday afternoon and Anna got on at the Philadelphia stop so we could ride to NYC together! Lauren met us at the train station and then we took the subway to her apartment, which is adorable! She put together a charcuterie board and made these delicious drinks. We stayed up very late, laughing and catching up.
On Saturday morning, we walked around and explored a bit before we got brunch at Tartine. I had the avocado toast and the bread was so fresh. We stopped for coffees afterwards and took the subway to Central Park. We lounged and chatted in Central Park for a few hours, and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was totally packed and great for people watching 😉
We then went to the Meat Packing District and enjoyed drinks at a rooftop bar called Le Bain with amazing views! It was the best view I’ve ever seen in NYC. Afterwards, we got appetizers at St. Tropez. We had fresh bread with olive oil, beet and goat cheese hummus, and a vegetable flatbread. We were so impressed and are determined to find a recipe for the beet hummus!
After apps, we relaxed and freshened up for our dinner reservation at Extra Virgin. It was way too dark in the restaurant to take pictures of our food haha but we had another amazing meal. I had salmon with whipped potatoes and asparagus, but Lauren’s butternut squash ravioli really stole the show. After dinner, we got ice cream at the Big Gay, which was amazing and so worth the wait. We then went out for drinks and dancing and had a blast.
On Sunday morning, we got breakfast and coffee and enjoyed it in a park near Lauren’s apartment. I got a smoothie and cookie from Juice Generation — so delish! Anna and I then headed back to the train station to head to our respective cities/towns 🙂 It was such an amazing weekend. We have the best time when we’re together and I am so lucky to have them in my life.
I hope you had a great weekend!
