This week is off to a good start after a relaxing weekend! I spent the weekend off of social media, which was much needed. I noticed that lately I’ve been mindlessly scrolling much more than I’d care to admit. Picking up my phone and opening Instagram has become a mindless habit. I want to be intentional with my social media use, noticing how often I’m using it, what accounts I’m following and when I’m simply using it as a distraction.
This weekend off of social media allowed me to be much more present. It was a bit eye-opening for me to see how often I reach for my phone when I don’t really need to or even want to — on car rides (as a passenger), while Tyler goes to the restroom while were out to eat, first thing in the morning when I wake up. I think it’s the small moments that have been contributing to mindlessly picking up my phone. Moving forward, I plan to take more time off social media and be more intentional with my usage.
Weekend in Edgewater
Tyler and I spent the weekend at a Bed and Breakfast in Edgewater, MD. After spending time back and forth these past few months after I moved and lots of social obligations, we haven’t had a relaxing weekend since the beginning of summer. We decided to get away for the weekend and booked a last minute trip on AirBnB. We arrived to the B&B Friday afternoon and settled in. We went to happy hour and dinner nearby. The food was good and the drinks were BOGO! We had some Coronas to kick off the weekend. After dinner, we met some friends for drinks and had a great time!
Our room had a deck with a beautiful view of the water and the natural light woke us up on Saturday. I LOVE being woken up by the sunlight. I hope to have a bedroom with lots of natural light when I buy a home 🙂 I read a little of the current book I’m reading by Rachel Held Evans, Searching for Sunday, which I’m really enjoying. The B&B prepared a delicious breakfast with quiche, broiled tomatoes and coffee of course. After breakfast, we went to a nearby golf course and had a fun time hitting golf balls. I did better than I expected for not having hit a golf ball in over a year haha.
After the driving range, we got yummy smoothie bowls for lunch. I got the cacao protein bowl and it did not disappoint. Saturday was a hot day but lucky for us our B&B had a beautiful pool and a boat dock on the water. We spent the afternoon swimming and hanging out on the dock. We were ready for dinner by 5 p.m. and headed out for sushi. After dinner, we picked up some drinks and enjoyed them while looking out over the water.
On Sunday morning, we had some delicious yogurt bowls with fresh fruit and kringle for breakfast. We then watched one of our favorite Netflix shows, Last Chance U, and relaxed before we left later in the morning. We had a wonderful stay at the B&B. We basically had the place to ourselves and it was even more beautiful than the pictures online.
It was a perfect weekend of relaxation and fun. I went into this week feeling much more relaxed than I have in awhile. A weekend with no set plans and great company was just what I needed!
Have a great week!
