Happy Monday! This weekend was full of fun to celebrate my 26th birthday 🙂 This past year has brought on a lot of change — a new job, temporarily moving back home and moving to Memphis! As we finally start to settle in here (we move into our apartment Thursday!), I can’t wait to see what year 26 has in store.
If this weekend was a reflection of how fun this year will be, it will surely be a great one!
Friday
Earlier last week, I saw a Memphis travel blog post that Book of Mormon was in town that weekend. I’ve heard such great things about it that I immediately texted Tyler and asked if he wanted to go. He had no clue what it was but said, “Sure!” like the good sport he is.
The show was on Friday at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Memphis. The theatre was beautiful and crowded! We were in the upper balcony but still had a great view. The show was hilarious, as one can expect since it’s written from the creators of South Park. It was so goofy and we really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen a musical in years so it was a great start to the weekend!
Saturday
Birthday day! We woke up at 7:00 on Saturday to a roofing company replacing the roof of our Airbnb haha but that was the only not great part of the day. Tyler spoiled me with donuts from a local donut shop, gifts and by making breakfast. It was a perfect relaxing morning while we watched Breaking Bad.
We recently joined a rock climbing gym and are loving it so I wanted to go climbing. The gym was pretty empty when we went so we got to climb for awhile and then worked out at their gym. After climbing, we rewarded ourselves by going to our favorite new smoothie place, Juice Bar. I got a cacao, peanut butter smoothie that was delish.
Afterwards, we relaxed and enjoyed some drinks before dinner. Tyler made reservations at a restaurant that used to be a theatre and plays silent movies during dinner. It was so cool! I was enjoying myself too much that I didn’t take any pictures but we split a mushroom, goat cheese flatbread for an appetizer and I got maple pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots for my entree. It was amazing and some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Although we were completely stuffed, we spilt two mini dessert cups that were dark chocolate and carrot cake. So, so good.
I received so many nice phone calls, texts and Facebook posts throughout the day, which we so kind. I have so many awesome people in my life! Especially Tyler who made my day so special!
Sunday
On Sunday we didn’t have any roofers on our place so we got to sleep in 🙂 I went to the grocery store and then we spent a lot of the day relaxing and hanging out.
The weather was SO beautiful so I went for a run around Overton Park. The park is stunning during this time of year with the leaves changing. I can’t get enough of it! I also prepped this slow cooker salsa chicken for dinner that was so easy and yummy.
Afterwards we ran some errands and browsed Best Buy to decide what kind of TV we want to get for our new place. We are so excited to move in and completely unpack. We love the area we are in but we are pretty tired of living out of suitcases and not having all of our things. Just a few more days!
Anyways, it was such a fun weekend and I felt the birthday love! Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. 26, let’s do this!
