Hi there! It’s been a little bit since I’ve given any updates on moving so I thought I’d share some updates. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, you can read this post to catch up 🙂
Packing
I spent last week packing and cleaning up my apartment. Although I was only there for a year, it felt like stuff accumulated so quickly! I donated clothing and household items that I didn’t need anymore and really felt like I was doing Marie Kondo proud. I also made over $80 selling clothes to a consignment shop so it was nice to get a little extra cash for my clothes that were still in good shape.
Since we’re planning to make a bigger move later, I ordered a POD to store all of my furniture and kitchen items in so it can be easily shipped when we make our move. I hired a loading company to pack up the POD, which was a huge help. It was worth the money to not have to stress about carrying large furniture items down a huge flight of stairs! The POD and loading process was pretty stress free so I would definitely do it again.
On Thursday night I slept on my air mattress using my robe as a blanket because the POD was completely packed and the packers needed my blanket to wrap a piece of furniture in. Let’s just say I’ve had better nights of sleep haha. On Friday, I woke up and went for a run to get the last day anxiety out. While the move was pretty stress free, I was exhausted from packing and ready for it to be over! I had to have my apartment professionally cleaned so I worked from Starbucks while I waited for that to be finished. Once they wrapped up, I packed my last few things and said my goodbyes to my first big girl apartment! Such a great experience.
Getting Settled in Hershey
On Friday, Tyler met me in Hershey and helped me unpack my car. My Type-A self felt so much better once I was unpacked and organized 🙂 We finished Game of Thrones of Friday and relaxed. On Saturday, we did a fun, challenging workout at the park that we based off of the Murph. We ran 1 mile, did 300 squats, 200 push ups and 100 sit ups, and then finished it off with one more mile. The rest of the day was pretty relaxed; we biked, grilled out and enjoyed some drinks. I was asleep by 10 p.m. haha. Sunday was a win because I got Tyler to go to a yoga class with me! I was ecstatic. We then went to lunch and relaxed before it was time for him to head back to MD.
The rest of this week has been pretty relaxing. I’ve enjoyed working remote with some company floating in and out throughout the day (my mom and sister). They’re not distracting and I enjoy having some social interaction during the day haha. I’ve been doing what I normally do — working, working out/going to yoga, going for walks, baking. Not much has changed except it’s been really nice to have this family time together. They’re not sick of me yet 😉 The only thing I miss is getting to see Tyler during the week, but as this goes on we’ll figure out our new normal and when I can visit since I have remote flexibility.
If you read all of that, thank you! I hope you have a great rest of your week — Friday is near!
Does moving make you as antsy (let’s get this over with) as it made me?
Are you someone who has to unpack and organize immediately or do you like to relax and take your time?
