Howdy, y’all! Don’t worry, I’m not saying y’all just yet 😉 but we are really enjoying our time in Memphis so far. (If you need to catch up, you can read about why we moved here.) To be honest, I was a little nervous moving here since we’ve never been here and didn’t know what to expect.
We read about the best areas to live in before we moved here and I’m happy to say that the area we’ve chosen has exceeded our explications. We are staying in an Airbnb until our apartment is ready. There’s a beautiful park nearby, yoga studios, breweries, great restaurants and bars with live music. There are also so many unique Memphis attractions to see, and while we’ve visited a few, our to-do list should keep us busy for quite awhile!
What We’ve Seen
Last weekend, we discovered a beautiful park that is down the street from our Airbnb. It’s been great to walk the park together and there’s beautiful trails that we’ve both enjoyed running on.
There’s even a golf course in the park! We golfed there on Saturday and had a lot of fun. I’m sure we’ll be back soon since it’s affordable and so close by.
The coolest thing we’ve done so far is visited the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid. Tyler drove by it on his way to work and mentioned that it looked pretty cool so we decided to stop in. It’s HUGE and kind of feels like it should be in Disney. There are multiple restaurants and bars, a lodge where you can stay, a bowling alley and more.
We paid $10 each to ride the elevator to the top of the pyramid to check out the view of Memphis from the outdoor deck and it was well worth the money. Such a cool experience!
On Friday night, we visited Beale Street. You’ve probably heard it mentioned in the song “Walking in Memphis” 🙂 The bars and restaurants were abuzz with people and live music. We were amazed by the amount of stands on the street selling beers and frozen drinks to-go haha. It was fun and I’m sure we’ll be back there soon.
Another highlight was Big River Crossing. We walked the Big River Bridge from Memphis into Arkansas. It’s about a one mile walk each way and has great views. It’s definitely something I would recommend doing if you visit Memphis. And now I can officially say I visited Arkansas haha.
We also finally got our hands on some Memphis BBQ! We went to Central BBQ in Cooper Young and it did not disappoint. It was very crowded but the service was very quick. The food was delicious and we’ll definitely take family there when they visit.
To wrap this post up, Memphis has been great so far! We are having fun and looking forward to all we are going to experience here together.
If you’ve ever been to Memphis and have any recommendations, send them my way!
Hope you’re having a great week 🙂
